Happiness is a state of Mind.

in Gauteng?
betekenis. Dit beteken vandag meer iets soos "people with their roots out of
Africa". 2002
Is dit weer opname tyd. Ek wil al voorspel dat Suid Afrika nou minder as 40
miljoen mense het.
Of the 7,3 million people in Gauteng, only 3% live in non-urban areas, as
opposed to the massive 97% that live in urban areas. South Africa as a whole
boasts a population of forty-and-a-half million people. Gauteng's total
population ranks second in size to that of KwaZulu Natal, which, with 8,4
million people, is the province with the highest population in South Africa.
The results of the latest census conducted nationwide in 1996, were released
by President Nelson Mandela and Finance Minister Trevor Manuel in Pretoria
today. The results represent the population of South Africa as on the night
of 9 to 10 October, 1996. South Africa as a whole boasts a population of
around 40,5 million people. This is a large number. If all people in South
Africa took hands, they would circle the earth once and a bit.
Gautengs African population is constitutes 70% of the total people in
Gauteng. 23% of the province's population are White, making it the province
with the highest percentage of White inhabitants. The rest of the population
figures by groups are: 3,8% Coloured and 2,2% Indian/Asian. 3,8 million of
the province's people are male and 3,6 million are female. This bucks the
national figure, where women are in the majority, with about 1,5 million
more women than men.
8% of Gauteng's people aged 20 years and above have a tertiary
qualification. This is second only to that of the Western Cape, where around
10% of people have higher education qualifications. In Gauteng, only 9% of
people aged 20 years and above have had no schooling at all. An approximate
11% have had some primary education whilst 24% have a matric. Gautengs 40 %
for people with some secondary education is the highest among the provinces.
The highest disability figure for Gauteng is 3% for people with sight
disabilities. This is in keeping with the rest of the country, where visual
disabilities are the most common. The rest of the disability situation is as
follows: 0,8% (hearing), 1% (physical), 0,3% (mental) and 0,4% (more than
one disability).
At least 45% of people in Gauteng have telephones or cellular phones in
their dwellings. This figure is the second highest after the Western Cape
with 55%. Only 4% of the province's population have no access at all to a
telephone. Those with no telephones or cellular phones in their dwellings,
can access a neighbours telephone (3%), a public telephone nearby (41%),
one at work (4,2%) or one at a location not nearby (2%).
