Daar ik een beetje Zuid-Africafan ben bekijk ik jullie programma's die
handelen over ZA ,zoals dieren in nesten,vandaag waterzooi in Kaapstad .
Wat mij altijd opvalt is dat er in die uitzendingen altijd het Engels
als voertaal gebruikt wordt niettegenstaande het Africaans daar de meest
gesproken taal is,behalve bij de zwarte bevolking.
Daar het Africaans nauw verwant is aan het Nederlands en we elkaar in
ons beider talen héél goed begrijpen, begrijp ik niet dat er in de
uitzending altijd het Engels gebruikt wordt;in feite komt dit neer op het
verloochenen van onze taal,wetende dat de Zuid-Africanen veel liever hun
Africaans spreken.
Drie gebeure, van mindere belang het in die afgelope week plaasgevind:
1. 'n Aansoek om die (tot nou toe) hoofstad se naam van Pretoria na
Tswhane te verander is "eenparig" deur die pleknaam kommissie (of so iets)
te aanvaar. (Dienstegelde deur die Pretoria/Tswhane belastingbetalers word
aansienlik verhoog - seker om o.a. die advertensieveldtog wat die
registrasie vooraf gegaan is te borg.)
2. 'n Linkse weekblak (Mail & Guardian) is deur die Hoërhof in
Johannesburg gemuilband om inligting te publiseer waarvolgens 'n
staatsinstelling PetroSA (voorheen Mossgas) miljoene aan 'n swart
bemagtigingsinstansie (Imvume) betaal is en dat Imvume die fondse na die ANC
se verkiesingskoffers gekanaliseer het. (In ander dele van die beskaafde
wêreld sou die regering reeds bedank het.)
3. Daar is besluit dat die slaagsyfer vir matriek eersdaags na 33%
verlaag word. (Ons beweeg nader aan die "pass one, pass all" slagspreuk.)
Nog 'n gebeurtelose week in Suid-Afrika.
O ja, hondemis is by Gatsha Buthelezi (IVP leier) se sitplek in die
parlement geplaas.

Op 8 Mei 1925 is 'n tweede lesing van die parlement goedgekeur, en op 27 Mei
1925 ( 80 jaar gelede) is Afrikaans amptelik as 'n landstaal toegelaat en
erken.
Is daar enige ander amptelike taal jonger as ons? Ek twyfel. Hoe oud is die
tweede jongste amptelike taal?
Nietemin - ons stoere taalvaders en optimistiese parlementariërs sou seker
nooit kon dink dat hul aksies sou lei dat ons jeug vandag sou opgewonde raak
oor 'n groepie met die naam Fokofpolisiekar nie;))

Nie in Kanada nie. As jy enigsins weet wat in die res
van die wêreld aangaan, dan sal jy weet dat daar
in Kanada op die oomblik die Gomery ondersoek
aan die gang is, wat week na week groter onthullings
maak van hoe belastingbetalersgeld deur sekere
kanale uitbetaal is aan sekere advertensiemaatskappye
wat Liberaal-simpatiek is, en wat op hulle beurt dan
groot bydraes tot die Liberale Party gemaak het.
Dit wil sê, die belastingbetaler se geld het uiteindelik
in die Liberale Party se koffers beland. Meeste van
hierdie aktiwiteit het in Quebec plaasgevind. Meeste
van die geld was veronderstel om advertensiespasie
te koop teen die seperatiste se poging om 'n ja te
kry in die referendum oor die afstigting van Quebec
van die res van Kanada. Hierdie onthullings lei
nou na 'n heropstanding van simpatie vir seperasie
in Quebec.
7 Desember 2000 geskryf deur 'n ene "Mel" woonagtig in Kaapstad. Kyk veral
