Ek gaan nou nie die hele ding vertaal nie:
From The Argus: 10/3/2005:
Four city clinic staf face disciplinary charges for stealing more than 2000
tins of baby milk formula meant for newborn babies of HIV positive mothers.
A 6 month supply of milk formula is given to HIV pos. mothers to prevent
them from infecting their newborns through breast-feeding.
But it is alleged that the 4 city clinic staff decided to try to make some
extra money from the sale of the formula on the black market.
The four officials, whose names have not been disclosed by the City of CT,
have not been suspended.
The City of CT also declined to say where this happened, but the Argus found
out it was at Gugulethu.
The investigation started in December, and the four guilty staff has been
pointed out.
The city pays for this formula, and in the investigation it was found that
delivery notes were also falsified.
Health clinics in the Western Cape provide the following services for
HIV/aids patients:
1) Freely available condoms to minimise the spread of HIV
2) Counseling and testing of HIV
3) Treatment of associated opportunistic infections and monitoring of people
suffering from it.
4) Prevention of the dpread of HIV from HIV-pos. mothers to their babies.
The mother to child prevention programme includes the treatment of HIV pos.
mothers with a cocktail of anti-retroviral drugs.
