The document devised by the State Theatre/Advisory Board on a new plan for
the performing arts was leaked to the media, and excerpts from, and comments
on it were published in the Star of 12 February. ....."
"..... The tender Playhouse
In the Sunday Times of 11 February, the Playhouse invited tenders for pest
control services, cleaning and sanitation, security and armed banking. They
should also have advertised a tender for someone to make sure that the tape
is switched off after Board meetings.
In a growing race scandal that would elsewhere force the resignation of all
those responsible, the Executive members of the Board chaired by Mr Edmund
Radebe, are heard to discuss Indian staff members in derogatory terms, on a
tape which was running to record the minutes of an earlier meeting.
Apparently, they forgot to turn off the tape. A seventeen-page transcript of
the tape was made, and will be released to the media today by Gita Pather,
who has resigned, despite a belated offer of a position as deputy CEO.
Watch this space.
Lottery Board
The Minister of Arts, Culture, Science and Technology has appointed six arts
and culture representatives to the new Lottery distribution agency.
Surprise, surprise. One of the six appointees is Mr Edmund Radebe. ....."
