No. The major difference is that North America's native people were the
target of sustained genocide for generations. This was associated with major
immigration programmes, bringing in millions of people of European
extraction. In the case of Canada, this is continuing purposefully, modified
slightly by a cosmetic layer of Asian immigrants dusted over, specled with
some West Indians.
The result being that "the right to vote in general elections and enjoy
consitutional rights of full citizenship" has no measurable effect on
so-called democratic decisionmaking in the US and Canada.
So the "moral" stance of Canada on "apartheid" impresses me not at all. Its
belated conversion to "multiculturalism" even less. On the contrary, I find
the expressions of political correctnes emanating from that country
sickeningly immoral.
Now: When Nunavut and similar entities are given a number of seats in the
Canadian Parliament at least equal to those occupied by the settlers, I
might begin to notice.
When the lives of settlers can be determined by native decisionmaking, I
might come to believe that North American native policies are no longer the
worst form of "apartheid" by far that was ever developed.
