Hello;
Sorry, that I write in English, but I do not speak Afrikaans or Dutch.
For a friend I need an official translation of the German "Bundeswehr"
or "Streitkräfte" into Afrikaans.
Because he wants to use this in an official homepage, I am not sure
whether the term "Weermag" is so appropriate in Germany (Due to the
similarity to the "Wehrmacht".
Thanks in advance and Dankie
Groete
Simon

I you are looking for the official term used in Afrikaans, you will
have to stick to "Weermag".

The full official name under the previous regime was "Suid-Afrikaanse
Weermag". Under the new regime, it is "Suid-Afrikaanse Nasionale
Weermag".

Up to the Second World War and a little beyond, the name was
"Verdedigingsmag". However, that term is no longer in use.

"Weermag" would be any country's defence force. If you want to refer
specifically to the German Bundeswehr, maybe "Duitse Federale Weermag" would
be better.
