Dank je JLR, dit was heel nuttige informatie. Bij mij betrof het overigens
wsock32.dll en geen winsock.dll. In het bestandje "liste.ska" stond 1 adres
van een Amerikaanse vriend die dus mogelijk ook besmet is. Nu heeft die
vriend geen Windows, maar een Mac. Ik vermoed dat dit virus bij hem geen
voet tussen de deur krijgt. Moet ik hem toch waarschuwen of is dit een
Windows-specifiek virus?

The way the MacOS works is totally different from Windows. Apart from that,
the instruction set of a Mac's CPU doesn't understand any of the commands that
an Intel based machine needs, so it's impossible to run the .EXE file, a Mac
doesn't even recognise it as an executable program. "DLL" files are a mystery,
too -- the MacOS doesn't have any, and has no clue what to do with them
either, so I'd say your friend is safe. BTW, I've also got a Mac, and nothing
happened over here.
General rule: Apart from Word/Excel Macro viruses, Windows viruses don't harm
Macs, and Windows PCs are safe from attacks of Mac viruses. And AFAIK it's
impossible to create an executable which runs on both Mac and PC, you would
need two separate versions.
And to get even more into detail (to wipe out the last remaining bit of
doubt): Even if it *was* possible to create an executable for both Mac and PC,
it would even have to be encoded as MacBinary (.BIN) or BinHex4 (.HQX) when
distributed over the Internet, and decoded again after downloading it.
Otherwise its resource fork would be lost (something that all Mac executables
have and that gets lost when temporarily stored on a non-HFS [=Mac style]
formatted media -- and I doubt that any web servers out there are Macs), and
the program could not be executed at all, even if it was designed to run on a
Mac.
