For start at home, try to find the book in the "Teach Yourself..."
series."Teach yourself Afrikaans" The book is pretty helpful. A
dictionary is harder to come by.( Suggest to try to find in England)
For pronounciation; never seen too many language tapes in Europe, though
in England again... For reading material on the web; www.ebeeld.com has
most of the articles in both Afrikaans and English so it is excellent
for practicing! Then again if you have a chance to get to hear Flemish
from Belgium it is somewhat close. At least I made one old lady happy
once as I was the only ship's staff who could "speak her language"
even I had a "funny accent"... If you know German language Afrikaans
grammar is a paradise! There is no sex-changing objects.
Mooi loop! HWM
