Idioom: 'N BOER MAAK 'N PLAN.
Dit word gesê van iemand wat baie
vindingryk is. Said of someone who
is very resourceful.
This idiom is probably one of the most frequently
used in the Afrikaans language. Literally it means
"a farmer makes a plan." However, because the
Afrikaners are also sometimes called "Boere", it
has developed a tangentially racial component to
its meaning, especially when it is used by Afrikaners
themselves. I sometimes wonder though whether this
idiom did not originally come from Europe, with its
basic meaning rooted in praise for the resourcefulness
of the farmer.

In het huidige Nederlands staat dit gelijk met /'boerenslimheid'/:
dezelfde pejoratieve _en_ respectvolle connotaties.
In actual Dutch this expression is: /"boerenslimheid"/. It has the same
haughty _and_ respectful meaning.
