San-Marie's prayer
San-Marie Cronje, Hansie's mother, reduced Mangaung mayor Pappie
Mokoena, councillors and visitors to tears with a moving prayer on a
visit to her on Tuesday. The prayer is as follows:
"Our loving Father in heaven, this is a morning for celebrations.
"Our son did not die, but is going towards Your light. He was given a
choice between darkness and light. Thank you for letting him go.
"He chose the light, even though it was difficult. He could have lied
and swept everything under the carpet, but he chose not to.
"As Dr Ali Bacher said on Sunday night over the telephone, Hansie was
the only one to tell the truth.
"Help us as his parents not to harbour resentment. In Your death on
the cross all our sins are forgiven.
"Thank you for the 32 wonderful years You gave us with a golden son.
We were his earthly parents, who brought him up for You. Now he is
with You.
"Thank you for saving him from further hurt. He did not deserve
everything that came his way, but You always took his side.
"Thank you for saving him from the cesspool of temptation in the
sporting world and elsewhere, O Lord. Our sports people are very
naive. They are unaware of what is happening in the world.
"Bless our city, bless our people. The people of Bloemfontein and the
Free State is one family. We are united.
"As Your children we receive Your undeserved grace.
"Ewie and I are now without our son. You were also heartbroken when
Your son died on the cross.
"We deliver him into Your hands. We know You will sustain us.
"Thank you for the courage of the pilots. Their families are enduring
the same pain. They also lost someone, but since our son was well
known, there was a fuss.
"We entrust those two families to Your grace.
"In the name of Your Son Jesus Christ. Amen."
