www.southafrica.info/ess_info/sa_glance/scitech/inventions.h tm
CAT scan
Oil from coal - Sasol
Heart transplant - Chris Barnard
Speed gun - Krieket
Kreepy Krauly - Swembad
APS therapy
Pratley Putty - Maan toe en terug
Dolosse - See hawens en strande
www.safrica.info/doing_business/economy/success/invent.htm
Military
The G5 long-range artillery piece manufactured in South Africa is exported
to several parts of the world.
http://www.planetmars.co.za/forums/index.php?showtopic=13800
I also recently discovered that the London underground could not have been
constructed without a device called the "Tunneling Sheild" invented for use
in South African mines.
Or how about this one, Peter Ramsay and Mark Beagle from KwaZulu-Natal
developed the world's first automatic popcorn vending machine.
Dun forget about JR Tolkien who wrote Lord of the Rings!
Cat eyes (road reflectors),
Ms Ball's Chutney.
First freqency agile Radio's and First helmet mounted targeting sights
(Which was later stolen by the KGB but ja, the fact remains)
The use of Camoflauge (sp?) was also pioneered on the battlefields of South
Africa (Boer (SA) Wars)
Yes, and let's not forget Rory Byrne, Ferrari F1 chassis designer and
aerodynamicist, and Andrey Verwey, who designs gearboxes for Formula One and
other major automakers.
The Lee Noble M12 chassis, one of the best club competition cars in the
world, is manufactured here.
What about the G5 and the G6, widely regarded as the best artillery pieces
in the world? Did you know the G6 can place up to 6 shells on a target
simultaneously?
also that wind up radio so you dont need batteries, i think that was South
African, anyway confirm?
South Africa: first country to successfully design and deploy air-breathing
rockets. Benefits: larger payload, insane distances due to larger fuel
capacity. Air breathing rocket tech sold to Daimler-Chrysler Corporation
under long-range bombing non proliferation treaty.
the boers where the first people to use trench warfare.
the R4 (if my memory serves) was the first right and left handed rifle in
the world (ie. safety switches on both sides of the gun so that lefties like
me would not have to reach over the gun to turn the safety off) and as far
as i know the R4 is also the only gun that can take two different cartridge
sizes (R4 and AK47 cartridges).
Didnt we invent the dynamo (the light that runs off the movement of your
bicycle tire)
:-)

Ek het nie geweet Oil of Olay is S.A. nie.

So dit was nie in effek 'n

so in alle militêre opsette wat wapenstelsels vervaardig.....dis so
Kak lewe, glo my!

Ek verskil met so paar besonderhede:
Suid-Afrikaanse uitvindsel.
Wat van lasergesteunde oogoperasies? Is dit hier uitgevind of het ons
net die tegniek vervolmaak?
Droë verkoeling by kragstasies is hier vervolmaak

> Herb Coat shampoos - haarsjampoe dink ek
> Eina Ivy - Is dit iets soos Aloe Vera?
vandag by die rugby.
> rooibos tea and soap - rooibos seep?
