Personally, I was very disappointed she didn't say a word in
Afrikaans in her acceptance speech. Ms. Theron was probably advised by
her agent/PR consultants that it would be politically incorrect to do
so.
I wonder why a public figure saying a mere "thank you" in Afrikaans
in front of a worldwide audience still remains such a taboo! After
all, nobody refrains from speaking German because Germany was once
ruled by the Nazis. Why should Afrikaans be maligned then just because
the founding fathers of apartheid happened to be Afrikaners? The
current stigma attached to the Afrikaans language is even more ironic
when you consider that at least half of its native speakers are
actually non-white (coloured).

You must be joking!!! Jou klein gek...!!! Jyself het nie eens die
verstandelike vermoë om dié brief in Afrikaans te skryf nie!
Fock-off ( in eng, fuck-off) jou rooinek wat nou met Afrikaanse
kallers wil ploeg! Jy is erger as bouwer!!!! En as jy my oor die
bouwer storie wil sue, my prokureur is een van die dae uit die tronk,

Pleks dat jy vir hom n goeie intelligente antwoord gee D, moes jy nou nie
vir jouself en die arme Afrikaner so deur die modder gesleep het met so n
simpel antwoord nie, kyk hoeveel verskillende groepe lees nou en dink dat

Jy kon gese het dat Ahnold het nie in Duits dankie gese toe hy goewerneur

Ek stem nie saam nie - sy hoef nie iets in Afrikaans te gesê het nie - geen
ander wenner het enige ander taal as 'n soort Engels gepraat nie. Ten spyte
van wat jou menng is, dink ek haar toespraak was goed genoeg, sodat sy nie
tot in lengte van dae daaroor gespot sal word soos Sally Field of Gwynneth
Paltrow oor hulle pogings nie.

Komaan. Daar is baie meer odd soort goed wat
in die VSA gespeel word. Wat van Amerikaanse
football waar die manne in hulle opgestopte
kostume met hulle agterente in die lug staan en

en op mekaar val vir hulle jollies. Curling is vir
geharde mense, soos Kanadese en Skotte.

Amerikaanse voetbal het nogal onder my vel gekruip, veral kollege football
waar die vroeg al i n die seisoen begin met recruiting ens. Ken ook die
afrigters en in die herfs as dit football seisoen is, is daar baie
opwinding, veral as jy kaartjies het om self te gaan kyk.
Die een universiteit naby ons het n mak arend wat hulle net voor die
wedstryd laat vlieg oor die veld, en daar is n heilige stilte waneer dit
gebeur, n magic moment.

Miskien moet hierdie mense net na haar onderhoud op KykNet en later herhaal
op MNet gekyk het....in Afrikaans vir 'n hele halfuur. Daarin het sy
onomwonde verklaar dat sy in afrikaans, dink, redeneer, ens. Dat hulle
steeds SA kos koop, haar ma steeds boerekos kook en dat hulle op naweke
braai. Vir my klink sy of haar voete vas op die grond is en joernalis na
joernalis in die pers beskryf hul onderhoude met haar as indrukwekkend.
Wat meer wil hulle van haar hê?

Janee, hulle sal seker tevrede wees die dag as hulla haar uitmekaagetrek het
en net die bene lê nog daar.....is mos maar net 'n spesie van die aasvoël,
is hulle nie? Dit was vir my interessant om te hoor hoe ervare joernaliste
biwwer en bewe in die dametjie te teenwoordigheid. Miskien is dit die
rede.....hulle soek die kontak om eendag vir iemand te kan vertel hy/sy het
vir Charlize Theron ge-onderhoud. Foeitog, ek hoop Charlize kry darem 'n
lag uit dié simpelgeid.....
