"She had mishandled government's reaction to the Treatment Action Campaign's
(TAC) court action for the provision of antiretrovirals, costing the
taxpayer close to R3-million, and had endorsed the views of Aids dissident
Roberto Giraldo.
Giraldo believed poor nutrition caused Aids, and had recommended HIV
patients eat a combination of garlic, onions, potatoes and virgin olive oil.
"The minister has a history of making rash, unsubstantiated statements. She
should devote more time to finding a cure for the foot-in-mouth condition
she appears to suffer from," Kalyan said."

Health Minister Manto Tshabalala-Msimang has distinguished herself at an
international forum once again. At a Commonwealth meeting of health
ministers in Switzerland this week (yeah, they allowed her on a plane again)
she threatened to walk out.
And what brought on this bout of militancy? She refused to participate in
the meeting unless her Zimbabwean counterpart, who was in Geneva for another
meeting, was allowed to attend.
The fact that Zimbabwe was suspended from the Commonwealth council - by,
among others, President Thabo Mbeki (hello!), seems to have escaped the dear
minister.
She threw an almighty tantrum, threatening to leave and take all the health
ministers from Southern Africa with her.
Wonder why they tried to convince her otherwise.

Controversial US Aids dissident Roberto Giraldo has been invited to South
Africa by Health Minister Manto Tshabalala-Msimang to act as an adviser to
the government.
Giraldo, a member of President Thabo Mbeki's Aids advisory panel, believes
Aids is caused by nutritional deficiencies, not HIV. He also argues that
antiretroviral drugs induce rather than treat Aids.
Tshabalala-Msimang told the Sunday Times this week that she had decided to
invite Giraldo to advise the government on nutrition after she had been
"vindicated" by a manual prepared by United Nations agencies the World
Health Organisation and the Food and Agriculture Organisation.

Ja, die ander string was oor besnydenis. Hierdie een gaan sommer net oor
Manto en haar dinge.
