I don't believe that are enough manufacturing resources to
make the quantities required. I think that they are
expensive to produce as well. I believe that the manufaturing
companies would easily make them as available as aspirin if
they could (millions more customers), but it's just not
feasible at this stage. No-one has got the kind of money that
this would take right now (without bankrupting their economy).

Whichever way you look at it right now, the cost of
medications would be insupportable to any government in Southern
Africa. Mabye they should give away 1000 subscriptions free
and hold a lottery...

I am not saying the limit in price is reached/exceeded, but claiming there
should be no limit is rediculous....that is the inherent consequence of
high-tech medicine/surgery.

And there is a difference beteen price and cost....subsidizing does not
change the latter.

Bye,

The desire to understand
is sometimes far less intelligent than
the inability to understand

Glaxo is apparently offering it to the SA government at
$100/month/patient, and they are bargaining for even lower prices..

Look at the bright side of it all: An end to chronic overpopulation,
maybe even the end of chronic starvation on the continent. The
beginnings of an african Renissance, where the small populations will be
able to feed themselves again?
A new beginning, but next time:
first-world medicine only for those countries with first-world
birth-rates please..!
