A 21-year-old man stabbed a mother of four several times in the chest
and, when she collapsed, he removed her underwear and he and his
brother raped the dying woman.
For their crimes, Sipho (21) and Bongani Zaca (30) were yesterday
sentenced in the Pietermaritzburg High Court to two life sentences on
two charges of rape. Sipho was given an additional life sentence for
murder.
As the brothers were being led to the cells, family and friends of
Nonhlanhla Radebe screamed at them that they would like to beat them
up for the crime.
The brothers, who pleaded guilty, told the court in their plea what
they did on December 18 last year near Fedsem in Imbali township to
Radebe, who was their friend.
They said that on December 17 there was a marriage ceremony at their
home and Radebe was expected to attend but did not.
The next day Sipho met her and invited her to a braai that afternoon.
Radebe arrived at 6 pm with her sister and alcohol was bought and
consumed.
ÂOur mother started to complain about the noise and the four of us
decided to go to Linda's tavern [in Imbali Unit 3] to continue our
party, they said.
The tavern was closed so they went to one near Fedsem where they
continued drinking.
When the tavern closed, they could not find Radebe's sister so the
three of them left without her and decided to go to another tavern as
Radebe wanted more alcohol, they said.
But on the way there, Radebe told Bongani she wanted to go home.
Bongani said he objected, because she had earlier promised to have sex
with him.
They argued and he grabbed her arm.
Sipho turned and asked his brother whether he was all right and was
told the Radebe wanted to go home.
Sipho said that when he asked her why, she swore at him and said he
was drunk and she had Âeaten the money of foolsÂ.
ÂI asked her if she was referring to me, to which she replied in the
affirmative. I took out my Okapi knife and told her that I was going
to stab her, said Sipho, adding that Radebe called him closer. Sipho
said Radebe was angry.
He stabbed her several times. After she fell, the brothers raped her
and left her to die.

Ons lees hier in Belgie dat daar in ZA 5 milj. mense met aids besmet is,is
dit reg of syn daar nog baie meer?
Is dit alleen swart mense of hoor daar ook wit mense bij?Een vriend het
gesêdat die omplosie na is.
