Excuse my Afrikaans, ek mix altyd my languages op!
I was quite surprised to see President Mandela present
Ruud Gullit with a "State Award". It must be a case of
one medal deserving another, for when my wife approached
Ruud Gullit to ask for his support for the families of
political prisoners, he never even replied.
Ofcourse her request was not done in front of TV cameras
and sports journalists.
President Mandela should maybe spent more time
remembering and recognising South Africans of all
colours who had worked so hard without payment for
his release and equality for all South Africans.
My wife would certainly not desire a medal, a simple
thank you Jacqueline would be enough for her. It may
soften the harsh reality that she paid a hugh price
for her convictions and believes that all men are
equal.
This will certainly not alleviate the bitterness I feel
about the way my wife was and is treated by all those
who new where to find her during the struggle, and now
have no more need for her, the doors she could open for
them, or the funds she could help them procure.
It just shows that people wherever they live, or
whatever their circumstances, they are all the same.
She only gave fourty years of her life to the course.
By the way, Ruud's real surname is "Dill".
