Dear Matt Nuenke, I live in Canada, but am
a regular contributor to the Afrikaans
newsgroup soc.culture.south-africa.afrikaans.
This is an important newsgroup, created for
people writing IN AFRIKAANS from all over
the world. For many of us outside South-Africa
it is the only contact we have with Afrikaans
and as such it plays an important cultural
part in keeping Afrikaans alive.
However, it is now being used by you and people
responding to you from other newsgroups in a
way deleterious to Afrikaans. People are losing
interest in using the newsgroup, because of the
presence of English on the newsgroup. May I
beg of you to refrain from using English on
our newsgroup. Please remove our newsgroup
from the list of newsgroups before you make your
next posting. Please could all responders to
Matt Nuenke do the same? You will make an
important contribution to Afrikaans when you
refrain from using our newsgroup. Our newsgroup
is there for people using Afrikaans. Please help
an endangered language survive.
From the land of the Algonquins.
