Rhenier - they have managed to hide/disguise their intellectual abilities up
to this stage - to such an extent that they can by credited for acting or
stupidity - or both.

I know a coloured woman and she is a professor in analytical chemistry
at a South African university.
Did she disguise her intellectual abilities? I don't think so.
