There are government and religious people who think they can make a dent in
the behavior of the people in this world. Examining the results, they are
wasting their time and other people's money.
People have been murdering people forever, and we shall continue to do just
that. It is our nature. Actually we are getting better at it. The tools we
use are getting more sophisticated by the day.
Most people really don't care if one or a few thousand other people are
slaughtered or die of starvation in another country. It is far away, and we
didn't see it happening. Of course they say they care. Think about it! Do
you really care? Thousands of people die daily without being slaughtered or
starved; they die on the road; in hospitals; etc.. Without the news media,
we wouldn't even know about it.
We only start caring when things are happening closer at home. Even then, it
is mostly the immediate family who cares. Then again, the mostly immediate
families wouldn't be concerned too much if it had happened somewhere else.
You think I'm wrong? If so, tell me where?

I suggest you read "the Naked Ape" and "Territorial Imperative". I think
you find a greater understanding of the human animal's most basic
motiviations.
