Groete an Afrikaans and Flemish speakers,

For some years I've been exploring ways to promote 2nd languages in
the U.S., in particular, those of the Germanic family.

After studying about a dozen languages I've decided a language very
similiar to Afrikaans (or perhaps Flemish) has the best chance of making
it on a limited scale here.

The name I would propose for this language is "Texicaans" (although
for the time being Silicon Valley in California will probably make the
best place to experiment with such an idea.)

Unfortunately, my Afrikaans is rather weak as it consists of very
limited conversation practice-although I have been reading in Afrikaans
for a couple years.

If anyone finds this idea intriguing and would like to know more about
Texicaans please let me know. And then, if you don't mind, I'd like to
reply in part in Afrikaans/Texicaans as this would really help me
progress.

Baie Dankie,
Vielen Dank,
Sincerely,

John Lindon

Hey, why not make Tswana the official language of the US? It would solve
the current English/Spanish dispute...!

I am a Dutchman, living in the United States. Your project naturally
interests me. What is it you're up to? (BTW Dutch is the same as
Flemish, in case you were wondering about that)

Why? I live in New York, formerly known as New Amsterdam. Doesn't that
sound encouraging?

Please tell me more about your intentions.
